Restore a Healthy Appearance to Your Nose
Rhinophyma treatments at Chernoff Plastic Surgery treat noses that have become red, enlarged, and bumpy because of overactive sebaceous glands in the nose.
Dr. Chernoff is an expert face and body cosmetic enhancement physician who has performed thousands of surgical aesthetic procedures for men and women in Santa Rosa and the surrounding communities for over 20 years.
What Is Rhinophyma?
Rhinophyma is a condition that creates a red, bulbous, and bumpy nose. Rhinophyma is caused by overactive oil-producing glands or sebaceous glands.
Rhinophyma has been associated with alcoholism and is sometimes referred to as an alcoholic’s nose. However, rhinophyma is not associated with alcoholism.
This condition is typically seen in individuals who have rosacea. If rosacea goes untreated, the nose becomes redder, swollen at the end, and appears bumpy. This swelling is because there is the formation of scar-like tissue and the sebaceous glands get bigger.
Although rosacea affects women more than men, rhinophyma mainly affects fair-skinned men aged 50 to 70 years. Rhinophyma can occur as a more severe stage of rosacea. However, some people do have rhinophyma without having rosacea.
Rhinophyma can cause depression in some patients. In certain cases, if rhinophyma is left untreated, the growth can become disfiguring.
Rhinophyma Treatment at Chernoff Plastic Surgery in Santa Rosa
Dr. Greg Chernoff is known for achieving natural-looking results. The goal with rhinophyma is to minimize the red, bumpy appearance and restore a subtle and natural-looking appearance to the nose.
In most cases, Dr. Chernoff uses a C02 Laser to remove the overgrowth of oil glands which removes the rhinophyma. The results are immediate and permanent. Patients who have been treated for rhinophyma are extremely happy with their results.*
In addition to removing the rhinophyma, Dr. Chernoff may also use a multi-modality laser treatment in the office to improve the appearance of broken facial capillaries which will improve the appearance of redness.
During your consultation, Dr. Chernoff will explain the procedures, recovery, and expected results.
