What is Juvéderm XC & Juvéderm Ultra XC?
Hyaluronic acid fillers have become popular soft tissue filler augmentation agents over the years. There are a variety of these types of products on the market that are used to treat facial and hand aging concerns.
Juvéderm XC is comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is injected into the facial tissue for the temporary correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Juvéderm Ultra XC is recommended for severe or deep nasolabial folds (smile lines) and is also used to temporarily add more fullness and plumpness to the lips.
Juvéderm XC is recommended by Dr. Chernoff for smoothing wrinkles, acne scars, smile lines, and other skin imperfections.
Who is an Ideal Candidate for Juvéderm XC?
Men and women looking for rapid improvement of wrinkles and fine lines close to the skin’s surface, as well as, those looking to enhance the shape or volume of the lips may be ideal candidates for treatment with Juvéderm XC. For individuals with certain scars or skin imperfections, Juvéderm XC may also help improve the appearance of the skin. Juvéderm Ultra XC can also plump the lips. How is Juvéderm Injected?
The injection is accomplished during a standard office visit. A topical numbing cream is applied to the injection site so patients experience minimal pain during treatment. In addition, the Juvéderm XC formula contains lidocaine to aid in numbing the treated area.*
A fine needle is used to inject the substance underneath the skin’s surface. To help minimize bruising, ice is applied and pressure is placed on the injection area following the injection. Slight swelling is normal around the injection area.*
For lip enhancement, swelling may be more pronounced when Juvéderm Ultra XC is applied. However, swelling typically fades within an hour or two following treatment.*
At Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, patients receiving any injectable are seen one-week post-injection.*
Is Juvéderm Safe?
Dr. Chernoff and his staff are committed to ensuring that your procedure is a safe one without risks. Patients can return to work and most other normal activities directly following treatment. However, some patients prefer to ice the area first. Some patients experience mild-to-moderate bruising, as well as swelling, but these side effects typically resolve quickly.*
What Results Can I Expect?
Typically, results will be visible after any swelling resolves with continued improvement showing over the next few weeks. Clinical studies demonstrate that Juvéderm XC reduces and smooths wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth with results lasting from nine months to one year.*
