What Is Reconstructive Plastic Surgery?
Reconstructive plastic surgery is done to correct facial and body abnormalities caused by birth defects, injury, disease, or aging. Typically, there are two types of patients that require reconstructive plastic surgery:
- Individuals born with congenital anomalies, such as cleft lip, hand deformities, craniofacial defects
- Individuals with deformities resulting from an accident or disease, and those resulting from traumatic injuries such as burns
Dr. Chernoff is uniquely qualified to provide reconstructive procedures that can be life-changing for both adults and children.

These treatments combined with his meticulous suturing technique, result in incisions that are barely visible. After repairing the injury, Dr. Chernoff often prescribes antibiotics when treating dog bites to minimize the risk of infection.
Lacerations & Cuts
Lacerations, or cuts can occur from sharp objects or by hitting your face or body during a fall. Not all cuts require stiches/sutures. The size, depth, and location of the cut determines if stitches will help or shorten the healing process. Dr. Chernoff has extensive experience repairing complicated cuts and lacerations on the face and body.
