Minimally Invasive
Neck Contouring
Serving Santa Rosa, Napa, & Greater Sonoma County, CA
Dr. Chernoff is the first and most experienced surgeon in Northern California to offer Ellevate.
Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery is excited to offer a new advanced minimally invasive cosmetic facial procedure that sculpts and refines your jaw line and neck. Ellevate uses an innovative suture suspension system to refine, restore and smooth contours while supporting the underlying neck tissue.
When performed alone, without additional procedures, Ellevate offers patients a fast recovery. Most patients are able to return to normal activities within days.*
Dr. Chernoff advises that the best candidate for Ellevate is a person with good skin elasticity and has fullness or lacking definition under the chin. People with poor skin elasticity or significant hanging skin are not a candidate for Ellevate alone.
Patients with diminished skin elasticity, extra or hanging skin will require additional procedures such as a Mini Facelift , Deep Plane Facelift, or a Neck Lift to remove excess skin. Dr. Chernoff may also recommend FaceTite along with Ellevate and for patients with poor skin elasticity.

Is Ellevate the Same As a Facelift & How Does It Compare to a Neck Lift?
No, Ellevate is a different procedure than a facelift. When Dr. Chernoff performs a facelift, he improves the mid-face by repositioning muscles and tissues along the cheeks and jowls to refresh a man or woman’s facial appearance. Whereas Ellevate is a minimally invasive facial renewal and jawline procedure that improves neck contouring and defines the jawline.
In the case of a neck lift surgery, Dr. Chernoff makes a small incision behind the ear and tightens the underlying muscles and tissues. He then removes excess fat and skin. Additionally, most patients require the repair of the platysma neck bands. To complete this procedure, Dr. Chernoff makes a small incision under the chin to surgically repair separated muscles by protruding platysma bands.
Ellevate is different than a traditional neck lift as the Ellevate procedure improves neck contouring and defines the jaw line. Also, the Ellevate procedure does not use incisions; instead, a supportive sling holds the muscles and glands under the chin and along the jawline.
Dr. Chernoff will discuss your options and recommend a facial procedure that will optimally help you achieve your facial and neck contouring goals.
How Is Ellevate Different Than a Thread Lift Procedure?
The Ellevate technique is different than the suspension thread procedures, named thread lift, NovaThreads, SwiftLift and others, as with these suspension thread procedures temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle “lift” in the skin.
The Ellevate technique is different as suture material creates the support sling underneath the jawline. The suture material is a durable braided polyester suture. The suture material is placed over the muscle and beneath the skin using the ICLED lighted Suture Rod. The Suture Rod is what allows Dr. Chernoff to travel to the exact location, so it is not too close to the surface or too deep, to finalize the support of the glands and muscles of the neck.
The ICLED light guidance makes Ellevate much more accurate and with the durable suture material, it is also much longer lasting. The structure of the Ellevate suture is much different to PDO threads or absorbable threads which are single strand sutures that are placed to lift the skin as the Ellevate suture is a continuous loop that goes underneath the entire area of the jawline to support it over the long term. The Ellevate suture is also non-absorbable, allowing longer-lasting results.*
What Is the Recovery Like After Ellevate?
Following their Ellevate procedure, patients go home wearing a chin strap that serves as a compression garment to assist in healing and improved result. If Ellevate is performed alone, patients typically experience very little bruising or swelling in the days to follow.
Ellevate can be performed on a Thursday or Friday and patients can return to work on Monday with little-to-no signs of a procedure being done. Patients will wear a chin strap for three days following the procedure.
For some patients, we recommend a neck support for additional days after the procedure.* If additional procedures such as a mini facelift or Neck Lift, or are performed with Ellevate, recovery time is slightly longer and is based on the procedure performed.
How Does a Patient Generally Feel After the Ellevate Procedure?
Most patients report that within a few weeks, they feel great. Any swelling or bruising should dissipate within the first week. Patients will feel tightness when they look down towards their toes because that is when Ellevate does its maximal supporting and shaping underneath the jawline. The tight sensation eventually resolves itself 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure.*
How Long Do the Results of the Ellevate Procedure Last?
The exact timing is different for each person and can vary based on genetics, weight gain/weight loss, skin quality, health, and other treatments being performed to improve skin quality.
Can the Ellevate Procedure Be Combined With Other Surgical or Non-surgical Procedures?
Yes, Ellevate can be combined with both surgical and non-surgical procedures. Dr. Chernoff may recommend combining liposuction and FaceTite with Ellevate to enhance results. Also, surgical procedures such as trampoline platysmaplasty (TPP), or a mini-facelift may be considered.
Additionally, many patients desiring a reinvigorated look benefit from non-surgical skin enhancement treatments offered at Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery. These advanced laser and light source therapies; such as, Fractionated CO2 laser, microNeedling, RF, and Radiofrequency, performed before or after an Ellevate procedure often improve results.*
