Some of the commonly treated reconstructive patients Dr. Chernoff sees are those suffering from dog bites, burns, lacerations and cuts and other types of traumatic injuries. The location of treatment or surgery is based on the type and severity of the injury. In some cases, for lacerations, cuts or bites, the procedures can be performed in our office sterile procedure room. For more complicated cases, it is performed at our outpatient surgery center.

If provoked, all dogs may bite resulting in damage (from minor skin tears to deep tissue damage). If a child or adult is bitten on the face the results can be physically and emotionally devastating. Dr. Chernoff is experienced in repairing simple to extremely complex dog bites.

Dependent upon the bite, Dr. Chernoff may need to use his advanced skin flap techniques to surgically repair the missing and damaged.

Accidents happen! Cuts, punctures, deep lacerations, can occur at home or work. The size, depth, and location of the cut determines the extent of stitches that will be needed.

Dr. Chernoff is highly skilled and experienced in surgically treating complicated cuts and lacerations on the face and body.

In many cases, a multi-modality approach for healing incisions is used that involves growth factor treatments, advanced light-based therapies, topical gels and healing skin barriers. Reconstructive Plastic Surgery for Burns

Not all burns are alike in type and severity. There are burns due to excess heat, chemical burns, or electrical burns. As a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Chernoff has extensive experience in treating a variety of burns. In many cases, minor thermal (heat) burns happen at home and can often be treated with antibiotic cream to prevent infection. However, deeper burns may require more complex treatments including, cleaning (debridement) and reconstruction.
