What Is Breast Lift Surgery?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, varies based on each patient’s breasts. At Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, breast lift surgery is done under general anesthesia and may take two to three hours, depending on the complexity of the surgery and if a breast implant is added to the procedure.*
Dr. Ordon typically uses a surgical technique that places an incision around the nipple. Other methods involve three incisions, one on each side of the breast, which connect to a keyhole-shaped incision above the nipple. Working through these incisions, excess skin is removed from the lower portion of the breast. The breast tissue is lifted into the higher position, and the nipple is placed into the keyhole incision. Sutures are used to connect the skin on both sides of the breast and around the nipple.
What Results Can You Expect After Your Breast Lift Surgery?
Patients experience some degree of bruising, swelling, and soreness for a few days. We may require that you wear a surgical bra for one week, and then you will wear a support bra for one month.
During first few days after surgery, you will need to take it easy. As your body heals, you will gradually be able to increase your activity. After a few weeks, you can get back to strenuous activity as your breast continues to heal.

During the recovery period, cold compresses can be used to help minimize swelling and reduce pain.
