Bioactive, Collagen Stimulating, Non-Surgical Treatment

PDO stands for Poly-Di-Oxanone, a biodegradable material used for medical procedures for decades.  PDO threads work by supporting layers of skin and stimulating collagen production. During the collagen stimulation process, the threads dissolve leaving improved skin tone, quality, and slight lifting.

Our skilled providers precisely insert the PDO threads under the skin. After insertion, PDO threads stimulate new collagen production while your body "heals" around the treatment area. Because the threads are bioactive and work overtime, you will notice a gradual improvement in the quality, tone, volume and subtle facial contouring. After 6-9 months, PDO threads are absorbed by your body.

How Does a PDO Thread Treatment Feel?

At Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, our providers make this in-office procedure quick and as painless as possible. You will receive topical numbing at the treatment area and patients can also add PRONOX to the procedure.

A PDO thread treatment may take between 30 minutes to one hour based on the number of threads used and your specific treatment plan.

Patients may feel a small amount of discomfort during the procedure. Most patients report less pain than dermal filler injections. Following the procedure, most patients require no recovery time.

What Areas Can Be Treated With PDO Threads?

PDO threads are an excellent option for patients with downturned corners of the mouth and sagging skin between the corner of the mouth and the jawline. Other areas can be addressed.

During your initial phone consultation, our patient coordinators will discuss your specific treatment areas and discuss treatment options that are best for you.

Can PDO Threads Be Combined With Other Treatments or Procedures?

Yes, our providers may recommend that PDO threads be used in combination with other procedures, such as injectable treatments (dermal fillers and neurotoxins), laser treatments, or surgical face and neck procedures.

As a result of PDO thread's ability to stimulate collagen, they are an excellent addition to almost any procedure.

What Results Can I Expect From PDO Threads?

When considering any elective non-surgical or surgical procedure, finding the right provider can mean the difference between great results and less than optimal results. Dr. Chernoff is world-renowned for his expertise in facial rejuvenation and has performed thousands of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in his 30 years of practice.

How long will results last from PDO threads?

Every patient's skin, tissue, improvement goals, and treatment plan are different. How your skin and tissue respond to PDO threads can be different from how other patients' skin and tissue respond.

Additionally, some patients combine PDO threads with other treatments like Sculptra, Radiesse, and other bio-regenerative treatments that improve the results.

Other factors such as weight gain, weight loss, hormonal changes, medications, and your overall health can impact the amount improvement and length of improvement from PDO threads as well as from other treatments offered at Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery.

FAQs

Are PDO treads safe?

Because PDO threads are minimally invasive and involve the insertion of threads using small needles, PDO threads are extremely safe.

Additionally, PDO threads are biocompatible. They are dissolved into the body and have been used for medical procedures for over 30 years.

How Much Do PDO Threads Cost?

The cost for PDO threads depends on the number of threads for each treatment area, the number of treatment areas, and if you are having other procedures at the same time.

When you speak with one of our Patient Coordinators, they will gather information about you, your goals, and your budget. Our Patient Coordinators will explain all of your treatment options, costs, and provide a treatment plan that is right for you.

How Do PDO Threads Compare to Other Threads?

In addition to PDO threads, other types of threads exist for facial rejuvenation including PLA, PCA, and Cog/Screw. The PDO threads at Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery are the highest quality FDA-approved smooth threads.

Some threads used at other offices have barbed edges. Dr. Chernoff has researched multiple types of threads and has selected the safest thread that provides excellent results.

If I Have Hanging Skin, Can PDO Threads Help?

While a PDO Thread lift can provide collagen stimulation and facial rejuvenation in the area that is treated, PDO threads cannot improve hanging skin.  If you have hanging skin on you face and/or neck or jowling along your jawline, we suggest that you explore options such as a Deep Plane Face & Neck Lift.
