What Is Dysport?

Dysport® is an injectable botulinum neurotoxin and is comparable to BOTOX® Cosmetic. FDA-approved Dysport® is an injectable form of botulinum toxin that temporarily treats moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows.

Dysport® can be used to treat crow’s feet, horizontal frown lines in the forehead, and vertical lines between the eyes. Dysport® expands further from the injection site than BOTOX® Cosmetic, so fewer injections are required. Dysport® injections will not cause you to lose expressiveness in treated areas.

Some of our patients prefer Dysport® to BOTOX® Cosmetic if they believe their BOTOX® Cosmetic has stopped working; meaning, they believe they have built up a tolerance to BOTOX® Cosmetic.

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport® works by blocking signals from nerves telling facial muscles to contract, which causes the muscles to relax and smooths the wrinkles caused by the repeated contractions of these muscles.

Prior to any treatment or procedure, Dr. Chernoff or one of our trained and certified Health Care Providers determine if you are a candidate, review the risk and benefits, and provide all possible treatment alternatives.

How is Dysport Injected & What Results Can I Expect?

Dysport® is skillfully administered with a fine needle through a series of small injections at the site of the wrinkles and frown lines. Anesthesia is not required before Dysport® is injected.

As each patient’s wrinkles and folds and body chemistry is different, so will how fast results can be seen and how long results may last. Results from Dysport® injections are typically visible within one to seven days following an injection session. However, most patients begin to see results two to three days after receiving injections. One treatment of Dysport® typically last about three to four months.*

Some of the advantages of Dysport® are:

  • Non-surgical smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles
  • No to minimal downtime*

Dr. Chernoff advises patients that the potential side effects are mild including, some redness and swelling in the treated area and bruising or discomfort at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve on their own and should subside within a few days of treatment.*

Is Dysport Safe?

When performed by a certified medical professional, Dysport® is a very safe cosmetic procedure. Since this injectable needs to be administered by a licensed medical provider, we advise individuals to be wary of discounts that seem too good to be true and those locations that offer injectables that aren’t a medical practice. When you undergo treatment at Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, you can be secure in the knowledge that only highly trained and qualified medical professionals will administer your treatment.
